Arundel. Winter Sky.

This painting is based on several studies which I did looking from the village of Burpham in West Susses, towards the famous town of Arundel. It was windy and cold with clouds scudding across the sky and just a hint of the sunset to come. Sometimes I am in such a hurry to get hold of a surface that I end up painting out another work..which is what happened with this one. So if you look carefully there is still a hint of green underneath - a perfect foil for the russet reds.
