I have spent many weekends painting in Arundel with a group of friends and we invariably end up at Burpham looking towards the town and its iconic castle. My eyes are often drawn away from the town’s skyline towards the downs that stretch to the North. This was painted en plein air with a very limited palette to echo a cold bleak cloudy day so typical of Winter.
