British Landscape Paintings 

Caroline Hall's landscape paintings are made in direct response to the British countryside , the open downland of Wiltshire, the wooded valleys of Somerset, the coastal edges of Cornwall and the hills above Bath. These are rural landscapes she knows intimately, painted on location and worked in her Bath studio into expressive, colour-led oils.

Caroline almost always paints or sketches on location, building a direct record of the places she walks. Whatever the weather - cold, baking hot, or ridiculously windy - she works in situ before returning to her studio to finish the painting. There is always a feeling encountered in the landscape that can only be translated through colour and mark. These rural landscape paintings are an invitation to experience those places, even if you never get to stand there yourself.
