Cheese Anyone?!
The Brief:
Collaborate with Paxton & Whitfield to produce a painting celebrating their famous cheese shops in London and Bath.
The Idea:
Produce a study and a larger painting celebrating the line of cheeses in their Bath store. Not my usual subject but I was intrigued by the idea of a Farrow & Ball style muted colour palette and how to represent the cheese display without getting too bogged down in the detail.
A muted colour palette.
Preliminary lines.
The Result:
One small study on canvas - loosely painted with a blue background. Then a larger piece. But I began to find the blue distracting so as I filled in the cheeses with thick paint I also started to paint out the background with a carefully mixed grey.
The paintings went on show in Jermyn Street in London at the beginning of May and travelled on to Bath for the month of June. These paintings on canvas are for sale with Fluvii.
Meanwhile..
I have been delivering paintings to London. Firstly for the Royal Society of British Artists annual show at the Mall Galleries. Secondly for the RA Summer Exhibition long list. Sadly I did not make the final Summer Exhibition list but with 20,000 entries even making it to this stage is a sign that your work has been noticed. It does also mean Big Sky Broughton is still available!
