Early last year I spent a week in Yorkshire, close to the Wolds.   Out driving one morning after a night of  snow, we stumbled across a signpost to the mediaeval village of Wharram Percy.  It was a glorious walk along hawthorn lined tracks  over rolling hills under dark skies.  By the time we reached Wharram Percy with its ruined church and small pond the Winter sun had broken through.  These paintings are inspired by that special morning.
