An exhibition record!

What a month it has been. I have had 24 paintings in exhibition throughout the UK and the Channel Islands. 14 at Southampton city Art Gallery nine with CCA galleries in Jersey and two on show at Liberty of London having been selected by the Affordable art fair for a London pop up. I feel extraordinary lucky although of course getting paintings out there demands a fair amount of hustling.

Creating a new series of work for CCA galleries in Jersey has also pointed out to me that I have come along way since setting out on the Turps Correspond journey three years ago. Turps have matched me with mentors who review my work every three months and force me to challenge what I am painting and how I am painting.

IMG_7295These new seascapes took me into familiar territory. Linear paintings with strong lines of colour across aluminium but they look different and I find that I have approached them differently. They are looser than before – more confident and there is a gesture using palette knife and thick paint that wasn’t there before. My series of paintings exploring the Wolds in January also inspired me to explore ways of painting across many different services simultaneously and these four wave paintings for Jersey followed this same process. I shall be bringing these birch panels and the nearly complete sea series (a couple have already sold!) to The Other Art Fair in London at the beginning of October.

Meanwhile just to prove that things always happen at once I had two early tube paintings selected for an Affordable Art Fair pop-up at Liberty in Regent Street. Another frantic afternoon of packing wrapping and despatching. These paintings, Tower Hill to Aldgate 1&2 along with their 2 larger siblings will be reappearing at the Affordable Art Fair, Battersea in October.

This month I shall have back all my paintings from Southampton, Jersey and London. My Hampshire landscapes completed over the last 18 months will finally be properly for sale. Southampton City Art Gallery is a public art gallery and I was showing alongside the permanent collection so I was unable to mark them as available to buy. Now they are!

Please sign up to my newsletter if you would like advance notice of exhibitions. In the meantime here are my Autumn dates:
